  About the Author

          Connie Jones is Professor of History at Tidewater Community  College  in Virginia Beach, where she has taught American History to  college students  of all ages for many years. Four years ago, her oldest  child,  Cary, became a  college student and it's Cary who is "leaving home"  to go to Smith in She's  Leaving Home. Her brother David is now a student at  the  University of  Richmond. 

          Connie is a student too. She is in her second year of seminary  studies,  which will lead to ordained ministry in the Episcopal Church. 

          She has written text materials in the field of American history, and a  history of the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Virginia called A Goodly  Heritage (1992).

          Connie's own alma mater is Mount Holyoke College, and she has a  Ph.D from Duke University. 

          Cary has graduated from Smith, and is an aspiring film writer.
